OK. This forum is for route suggestions, and I’m not the first person you’d want to take one of those from. There have been a couple of occasions when I’ve gone every so slightly the wrong way on a fell race and this has left me with an unjust but very stubborn reputation for being navigationally useless.
I do have a question, though: for some reason you have decided to ride from Ulverston to somewhere around Tottlebank or the Woodland triangle, change your shoes, run around a bit so that you end up at the top of Beacon, swim across the lake a few times, run down again and ride home. Which way do you go? Is it better to take your mountain bike over Kirkby Moor or try and ride past the giant’s grave on your silly fixed-wheel road bike, which is always exciting downhill?
Thank you.
(normally i’d just run there but I drew Dave’s attention to the Helvellyn triathlon next year and somehow now I’m supposed to be doing it)
