  • The online shop is temporarily closed! We're making a new one that's a bit easier to look after, so that it's not out of date all the time. It will also be much more persuasive, so you will be completely unable not to buy stuff. Until then, you will sometimes find us on ebay.

Review - Specialized Epic Expert 2010

posted by Dave, Saturday, January 16, 2010

We now have a Specialized Epic Test Bike at Gill Cycles and I was the first person to take it out for a ride. This is a quick summary of my findings.

1. The bike has fantastic balance. We went out on a wintry day with lots of Snow and Ice about but I managed to stay mostly upright. When we came to the Lawson Park descent I just flew down.

2. The bike is light. I wasn’t feeling at my best on the day I did the test ride but it felt really good on the ascents.

The rear suspension uses Specialized 3rd incarnation of the Brain system. The Brain only responds to bumps on the ground and works amazingly! When I was riding on tarmac or the flat there was no discernible rear end movement at all and when I was going up hill or downhill across bumps the rear end was active. You can’t ask more than that.

I liked it full stop.

It is available at Gill Cycles to Test Ride, we charge £40 but we refund this if you buy any full suspension bike after test riding.
